Blitz is a 9 year old Mini Australian Shepherd owned by Jeff and Brenda. He has received extensive training through Resolute Dog Training and has been a Therapy Dog for 3 years. His specialty is PTSD but he always provides comfort to all. Jeff and Brenda are retired teachers that enjoy giving back to their community. Jeff is also an Assistant Chief in the Corning Volunteer Fire Department and knows how valuable a Therapy Dog can be for First Responders. Blitz’s visits include high schools, care homes, hospitals, fire/dispatch departments, as well as participating in community and memorial events.
Jeff has had training through the Code 9 Project, The All Clear Foundation: ResponderStrong Mental Health Curriculum, and FEMA to help him facilitate critical incident debriefings and to deepen his understanding of the importance of mental health in First Responders. Brenda also has a unique perspective of the benefits of Therapy Dogs in a school setting. She is a survivor of a school shooting in 2017 and saw first hand how children and staff gained back their confidence as they worked and interacted with the dogs brought by the veterans of the Anderson VFW. Coincidentally, these dogs had also been trained by Resolute Dog Training!
